Of course, this is a great opportunity for decoration, and that's what most laptop skins do - they 'dress' your laptop in a variety of bright, fashionable colors and patterns. There are a few companies that even offer 'personalized' laptop skins; the skins can be printed with a favorite photo or a design you have come up with yourself.

Laptop skins are relatively inexpensive - usually running about $ 35, more if they are personalized - and they are a great idea. Because laptops are carried around so much, the lid does tend to get scratched and dented. Furthermore, some people are bored with the unadorned professional look of most laptops, and they want their computer to exude a fresher, more fun image - like a personal accessory. There really is little reason not to consider investing in one of these fun and useful laptop accessories. Remember, though, they do not fulfill the same function as a padded laptop bag or case, and while they protect your laptop from scratches, they don't do much for the impact of being dropped!
