All laptops are considered portable, even older models that weigh in at ten pounds or even more. But consider how much more portable a mini laptop is! Mini laptops are just what they sound like - a diminutive version of a laptop computer, with many of the same features and capabilities. For many of us, mini laptops are an idea whose time has come. No more toting around heavy laptop bags - these new computers are lighter as well as smaller. On the other hand, they aren't for everyone. Some of us would do better to resist the allure of a cute and trendy mini laptop.
The fact is, people use their laptops in different ways. Laptop use depends on one's profession, habits and requirements. Some of us appreciate the compact form of a standard laptop, but rarely if ever take it out of the house, where it functions as a family computer. If that describes your laptop use, don't bother looking at mini laptops. You want a computer that offers comfort and as many features as possible.
Much the same applies to professionals who use their laptops in the office, and only rarely bring work home. If this describes you, you probably require a customized system for work and portability is only a secondary concern. Who really does need mini laptops, then? Well, students, for a start. Imagine lugging your computer from class to class, then to the library, then home, usually on foot or on a bicycle. People who use their laptops in this way will quickly appreciate how useful a mini laptop can be.
